JJF Donates Business Capital Goods In Kayole

The Jonathan Jackson Foundation (JJF) is a non-governmental organization whose mission is to help youth groups build businesses in Nairobi’s informal communities.
Jenga Bizna Mtaani program (Building Businesses in Communities) is an initiative aimed at supporting youth and women entrepreneurs in informal communities in Nairobi. The program provides a nurturing business environment, offering seed funding, business skills training, mentorship, and coaching. Jenga Bizna particularly benefits those in marginalized or hard-to-reach areas with limited resources. The program’s objective is to establish productive micro and small enterprises that contribute to the country’s socio-economic growth by providing decent jobs and improved incomes.
On March 24th, 2023 JJF donated two food vending trolleys and a truck full of red onions to support two groups, Swam Legends and Shekinah Glory in Kayole at DIWPOA church in Kayole. DIWOPA church donated land in Komarock where JJF build the 4th basketball under JJF’s Bakee Mtaani in partnership with KFC Kuku foods.
Swam Legends is a dynamic youth group established in 2020, united by their love for dance. The group has of over 30 members majority being youths aged 18 years old. Swam Legends seeks to diversify their revenue streams by exploring opportunities in the hospitality industry, their long term goal includes establishing a hotel business.
Shekinah Glory, is a female-founded group comprised of 15 members who are all women and have specialized in the onion business. Shekinah Glory provides both wholesale and retail options to serve the needs of their target market. This donation is an impact investment tool which Jenga Bizna Mtaani uses to support small-scale enterprises thus creating more employment opportunities in Nairobi’s informal communities for youth and women, enabling them to support their families and communities. Mr. Jonathan Jackson, Chairman of JJF, expressed the need to support businesses in informal communities
“It is heartening to see the enthusiasm and dedication of these young entrepreneurs, and we are proud to play a small part in their journey towards success.”
In attendance was Father Justus of DIWOPA World Parish who said.
“This donation will go a long way in supporting these youth groups and will help them to achieve their dreams.”
Miss Jane, a community member, had this to say, “We appreciate the efforts of the Jonathan Jackson Foundation in supporting youth and women entrepreneurs in our community. This donation will make a significant difference in the lives of these two groups, and we hope that it will inspire others to support similar initiatives in the future.”
Lizz Wanja a recipient of the capital good donation of a smokey trolley from Swam legend said
“The smokey trolley feels like a stepping stone towards my future , the chances of me going to campus are low but this business will definitely help me.”
As a non-profit organization dedicated to helping youth and women in Nairobi’s informal communities build businesses, JJF recognize the importance of supporting local groups and initiatives that make a positive impact on the lives of those around them. JJF hopes these donations will not only provide much-needed resources for these groups, but also inspire others to take action and make a difference in their own communities.
