JJF Commitment To Maintaining High Standards For Basketball.

Jonathan Jackson Foundation handed over the Gatina Basketball Court to the Gatina Primary School and Community on Friday the 4th of February 2022 following a month of maintenance, repairs and upgrading of the sports facility. The upgrading of the court placement of a new surface, repainting, installation of new hoops and erection of a new chain-link fence on the facility.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, the headteacher Mr. Gitau Mwaura stated, “Basketball has (now) become a popular sport in Gatina Primary School. We are also the first school in Kawangware to have such a facility…”
Community members, Community basketball teams, students and teachers from Gatina Primary school were joined by the Lordship Africa Team and the Jonathan Jackson Foundation during the occasion. The Gatina Primary School pupils expressed excitement and joy and could not wait to have a feel of the new surface. Destiny, a pupil from the school thanked the charitable Organisation for helping them to nurture their sports talent. Another student, Kabuka, added, “Because of the Basketball Court, we look forward to coming out of the classes to play basketball among ourselves…”
The improvement of Gatina Court will allow for diverse populations to use the space for developing talent. Maintaining high standards is important to us (Foundation). We intend to build 5 courts in Kawangware Community to support the teams to set up local tournaments

The construction of Gatina Basketball Court resulted in creation of 3 basketball Teams: Gatina Primary School Team, Gatina Cardinals Team and Lady Titans Team. Mr. Evans, an assistant Coach of Lady Titans Team expressed his gratitude to Jonathan Jackson, Chairman and Founder of Jonathan Jackson Foundation, who was also present at the hand over event. Kelly, a basketball player from lady Titans team attributed the improvement of her skills to the Gatian basketball court and stated that her team – Lady Titans – borne as after construction of Gatina court, now plays in the NBA – Nairobi Basketball Association.

The Foundation launched it’s third basketball Court on the 28th of January 2022 at the Riruta Stadium in Dagoretti South Constituency – all within Kawangware region. Plans to construct 2 additional courts are underway.
