The event showcased an incredible display of solidarity as professional athletes and members of the community, including informal workers and youth, joined forces to raise awareness and promote collaboration in combatting crime, addressing drug abuse, and advocating for climate action.

The marathon was more than just a race; it was a powerful statement of our community’s commitment to positive change,

The Ghetto Marathon featured multiple race categories – the Elite Race (15KMs), Community Race (5KMs), and Kids Race (3KMs), fostering inclusivity and emphasizing the strength found in unity for the betterment of society. Moreover, the marathon served as a successful fundraising platform for the construction of the Community Relations Foundation centre. This initiative aims to empower vulnerable youth and women in Nairobi’s informal settlements by providing skill development opportunities and fostering economic empowerment.

We commend the Community Relations Foundation, the Kenya Police Service, Athletics Kenya Dagoretti, and all participants for their dedication to this noble cause. We are honored to be a part of the Ghetto Marathon 2023. Our commitment to this cause is centered on inspiring participants, particularly the youth, and emphasizing the critical need to combat crime, tackle drug abuse, and address climate change. These efforts aim to foster a safer, healthier society—an alignment with our foundation’s mission of empowering youth in informal communities like Kawangware to create sustainable businesses.
